Letter from Joe Culpepper

Dear Valued Customer,

First, I’d like to personally thank you for considering J. Culpepper & Co., Inc. for your natural material needs. We know that you have other choices in the marketplace for handle materials or inlays. I hope that our reputation for quality and service is rewarded with your business. For those of you who haven’t previously done business with us before, I’d like to welcome you.

A great many of you remember me and my brothers as children running around knife shows mostly looking for trouble. We usually found it and along the way if only by accident we happened to learn a thing or two about knives. Though I don’t look for trouble nearly as much these days, you can and will find me at the occasional knife show and whenever possible I try to be accessible on the phone. I grew up within the knife community and I can’t imagine a group of artisans and business people that have more integrity, character or honesty. I’ve been blessed to have had the opportunity to meet so many talented and hard working people. If you happen to be one of those folks, pat yourself on the back and accept my thanks and gratitude

This catalog has been a long time coming and I know a lot of you have waited a while. This staff has done an exceptional job of staying on top of this project, despite my occasional lack of focus. Business has truly been exceptional of late and of course we’re thankful for it, so please bear with us as we continue to grow.

Some great things are on the horizon for J. Culpepper & Co., Inc. With our new 18,000 square foot distribution facility fully functional we have been able to raise our standard here in the US to be on par with our plant overseas. We have been very busy developing many new colors and patterns of bone of late and you will begin to see those appearing in the marketplace. We have also seen a tremendous response of late for our Amber Stag Enhancement process. Our secure source of raw Stag material has kept us very busy cutting Stag slabs, sticks and carvers. But with the continued embargo from India and virtually no other vendors competing with our sales for Stag, demand will continue to exceed supply. We have also continued to pioneer the cutting and yield from raw shell and though you won’t notice a difference in your pearl purchases, trust me, those innovations are saving you money.

I hope that this past year has been good to all of you and that your passion for your craft is as strong as ever. On behalf of the entire staff here at J. Culpepper and Co., Inc. we hope to hear from you soon or see you along the show trail. We’ll be at the Las Vegas Classic, Arkansas Custom Knife Show, ECCKS in NY, Blade Show, Parkers Show, Guild Show, A.G. Russell’s Event, Chicago Custom, Milan Italy, and Chesapeake.

We look forward to hearing from you and welcome your feedback. Thank you again for your continued business.
