Apple Coral Inlay Material
Price From: $3.00

Apple Coral is a tropical coral known for it's deep red and rich nectarine colors. Unlike many other corals, Apple Coral is very durable, easy to work and 100% stable. One tip that we recommend is after the initial shaping, seal the surface with super-glue, let dry, final sand, repeat if necessary, and polish. Because the material is porous, the super glue helps to seal the exterior, and makes the buffing process much easier as buffing compound is difficult to remove from pores. It is an extra step that is well worth the extra time. All pieces have a minimum thickness of .055". Prices shown are per piece.

Price From: $10.00

In addition to our regular line of materials, we offer smaller sizes of blacklip perfect for inlay use.  They have the same color characteristics as the larger pieces and are probably second only to white in popularity.  All pieces have a minimum thickness of .050"-.060". Prices shown are per piece.

Blackpen Inlay Material
Price From: $2.00

This material is cut from a very thin but beautiful cylindrical shell.  The blackpen mentioned here is cut from the thicker center of the shell but we do offer the iridescent material cut from the tip of the shell.  When held up to the light, blackpen emits a very deep purple, violet color.  It is recommended to back the material with a metallic foil material in order to enhance the color.  It almost has a tortoise shell appearance when this process is replicated. All pieces have a minimum thickness of .065". Prices shown are per piece.

Goldlip Inlay Material
Price From: $4.00

Goldlip Mother of Pearl or Pinctada Maxima is scientifically the same as White M.O.P. only that gold is taken from the reverse side of the shell. Good quality dark gold shells come from the waters surrounding the Philippines and parts of Indonesia. Goldlip shells will yield both gold pieces from the edges as well as colorful white pieces from the inside of the shell. While this gives us two valuable but distinctly different colors, it is not desirable to have both colors showing on the surface of any piece. Goldlip is priced based on depth of color and iridescence. All pieces have a minimum thickness of .040"-.070". Prices shown are per piece.

Tiger Coral Inlay Material
Price From: $5.00

Tiger Coral is a tropical coral known for it's beige, dark brown and black colors in which the patterns resemble cave drawings. Unlike many other corals, Tiger Coral is very durable, easy to work and 100% stable. All pieces have a minimum thickness of .095". Prices shown are per piece.

Blackpen Pre-Cut Inlays
Price From: $2.00

This material is cut from a very thin but beautiful cylindrical shell.  The blackpen mentioned here is cut from the thicker center of the shell but we do offer the iridescent material cut from the tip of the shell in the next description.  The blackpen is thicker than many inlay materials and can range up to 0.070” in thickness.  When held up to the light, blackpen emits a very deep purple, violet color.  It is recommended to back the material with a metallic foil material in order to enhance the color.  It almost has a tortoise shell appearance when this process is replicated. Pieces are approximately .080" thickness. Price shown is per piece.

Blue Coral Pre-Cut Inlays
Price From: $2.00

Blue Coral is famous for it's pale to indigo blue color & white swirls. Blue Coral though 100% stable, is not as durable as Apple Coral or Tiger Coral, but with care while working makes for a very intriguing handle material. We do not recommend Blue Coral for working knives or factory slip joints. Pieces are approximately .080" thickness. Price shown is per piece.

One tip that we recommend is after the initial shaping, seal the surface with super-glue, let dry, final sand, repeat if necessary, and polish. Because the material is porous, the super glue helps to seal the exterior, and makes the buffing process much easier as buffing compound is difficult to remove from pores.
