Due to the nature of the mosaic laminating process, often there are voids left from the vacuum pockets. Voids leave a somewhat hollow area in the laminate. This coupled with some of the light colors in which the mosaic is available, can cause polishing compound marks on the surface that are easily noticeable and hard to remove. Hence we recommend using the following process to minimize and inconvenience, both with light and standard mosaic laminates:

1. Cut general shape of piece to fit application.
2. Sand to desired thickness.
3. Clean mosaic piece thoroughly.
4. Build a scotch tape dam. This is done by taping around the width of the laminated piece and folding the excess under the backside of the laminated piece.
5. Take any kind of clear super glue and run a thin layer over the surface to fill any such void. This also serves as a nice sealer. Let dry until surface becomes hard. This step may need to be repeated. It is of utmost importance that this step is done in a clean and dust free environment.
6. Sand back down to actual material, final sand and polish.
7. This should leave you with a clean, void free slab.

This process may not apply for hand sanding and polishing. However, we do recommend these steps or similar procedures to be used when using all light colored mosaics.
