Red Abalone or Haliotis Refuscens comes from the coastal waters of Northern California. It is the most sought after Abalone, particularly in the cutlery industry because of it's large size and weight. It isn't red at all, but the name comes from the red/pink tint of the exterior of the shell. At present, Red Abalone is a protected species hence the material we presently offer is the last to ever be available. Sold by whole shell only.

Pink Freshwater shells are harvested domestically but rarely are large enough for cutlery applications. Shells are desired for their pale pink color and thickness. Sold by whole shell only.
